Hi, I’m Kate (she/her)
I'm a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and the owner of Calmer Canines LLC. I've been working with dogs and their owners since 2007 using gentle, effective methods. I create solutions-focused treatment plans that meet the specific needs and abilities of each and every human client and canine student. I have worked with reactive and fearful dogs since 2010, using methodologies informed by BAT, Play Way, Control Unleashed, and the L.E.G.S. Model to meet the needs of dogs and teach them coping skills.
Since having a child of my own in 2018, I have focused on working with families from pregnancy/adoption through adolescence, but I still work with a variety of behavior issues and I love helping owners set up their puppies for success. I am a Licensed Family Paws® Parent Educator, a Certified Family Dog Mediator, and a Dial Guide through The Family Dog®. I am also a neurodivergent mother to a neurodivergent child, as well as a loss mom, and I use my unique experiences and perspective to help families create a healthy dynamic between all family members - two-legged and four.
